GED Preparation Program

Building Skills. Preparing for Success. Opening Doors.

Birmingham Jumpstart’s GED Preparation Program helps adults strengthen their academic skills, knowledge, and confidence needed to work toward earning their GED.

Our 12-week program provides structured instruction, individualized support, learning materials, test-taking strategies, and practice opportunities designed to help each student understand where they are academically and what they need to do next.

How the Program Works

The GED Preparation Program is delivered through a 12-week learning module that includes:

  • Instruction in key GED subject areas
  • Individualized learning support based on each student’s needs
  • GED study materials and practice resources
  • Test-taking strategies and problem-solving skills
  • Regular progress evaluations
  • Practice testing to help students become familiar with the GED format
  • Guidance on preparing for the official GED examination

Students receive ongoing feedback throughout the 12 weeks so that instruction can be adjusted to address areas where additional practice or support is needed.

A Personalized Pathway

Every learner enters the program with a different educational background and set of strengths and challenges. Birmingham Jumpstart uses a personalized approach to help students identify their learning needs, strengthen foundational skills, and build toward GED readiness.

At the end of the 12-week module, each student receives a comprehensive progress evaluation. Based on their results, the student may be encouraged to continue preparing, receive additional academic support, or move forward toward taking the official GED examination.

Our Goal

Our goal is more than helping students prepare for a test. We help adult learners build the academic skills, confidence, and readiness they need to take their next step toward education, employment, career advancement, and greater independence.

Birmingham Jumpstart believes that a second chance at education can become a first step toward a new future.
